How to Clean Silver Bangles

Are your silver bangles getting a gold tone? Or even worse, have your once shiny silver bangles turned black? The culprit is tarnish. Tarnish is caused when silver is exposed to sulfur-containing gases in the air, the silver discolours and then darkens as it reacts with the gas to form a surface layer of tarnish. Don't panic, there are several easy ways to get your silver bangles back to their gorgeous original shine.

There are several good silver polishes on the market that will not only remove even stubborn tarnish and lay down an invisible layer of protectant that will keep tarnish from returning.

Weiman makes several polishes that we recommend.

If you are traveling, or not near a store, give toothpaste a try. Apply with a damp cloth and rub gently so you don't scratch the silver. Rinse in hot water and dry with a soft cloth.
